Mouth Cancer Action Month!

Mouth Cancer Action Month runs throughout November and is an annual campaign organised by the British Dental Health Foundation to help raise awareness of the signs and those most at risk.

As well as educating the public about mouth cancer it is also about increasing knowledge within clinical professions. Mouth cancer rates are on the rise; here at Dawood & Tanner we recognise that early detection is crucial to increasing survival.

Performing mouth scanning is routine here at Dawood & Tanner on all patients at every check, every time a patient visits the practice but the patient perhaps doesn’t know why we are doing it. We inform and educate all our patients.

“It is estimated that 6,000 people alone this year will be diagnosed with mouth cancer and diagnosing the symptoms early could extend the lives of 5,400 of them,” said Dr Nigel Carter OBE, Chief Executive of the British Dental Health Foundation. “For more information visit
